Sedona's Enchantment Resort is Close to Nature

The red rocks of Sedona make it one of the most spectacular places to visit in the southwestern United States. Whether you enjoy going off-road on a jeep tour or just driving around, you always feel like you are passing through a Clint Eastwood movie. Sedona is also popular with new age vortex followers, naturalists and craftspeople. The Enchantment Resort is located five miles out of town in the center of Boynton Canyon, and it is generally considered to be one of the nation’s top resorts.

Amenities
The hotel has a central adobe-style building known as the Clubhouse that contains the reception area, conference space, several stores, dining rooms and other facilities. Most of the complex is quite spread out since there are 81 living units at the hotel, each housing several suites. There are separate areas for the Miiamo Spa, tennis courts, pool and recreation facilities. The views in any direction of the red rock hills and ravines at the Enchantment are breathtaking as are the opportunities for hiking, horseback riding and star gazing. The restaurant cuisine includes an interesting combination of tex-mex dishes and fine dining entrees.

Popular for Hiking
When we stayed at the Enchantment I had the opportunity to go for several hikes into the canyon on the many marked trailheads near the hotel. Notwithstanding some signs suggesting that the proper way to respond to an approaching bear is to make yourself as large as possible, yell at the bear, throw stones at it, not climb a tree and not run away, I resolved to avoid all bears and to bolt like Usain Bolt if possible. Fortunately, my resolve was never tested and I was able to enjoy the views of the canyon from both the trails and the pool on several occasions.

Convenient Location
Sedona is located a convenient area for travelers. It is about a two-hour drive north from Phoenix airport along Interstate 17 and halfway to the Grand Canyon. A trip which includes a stop at both locations will provide a lifetime of memories.
